Maine Lines

Today was a very bright and beautiful day all around. The 250th Anniversary Celebration for this little town of Machiasport, Maine was a smashing success. We really enjoyed everything we participated in. The members of the Historical Society outdid themselves, costumed and working hard everywhere. The box lunches we bought were delicious and I had fun chatting with the girls filling the boxes. The kids had fun, Cora Proctor Quimby , aged 104!!! was honored with the Boston Post Cane as the oldest town resident.

There are lots of photos on flickr, if you want to look, I'm too tired and this old Macbook Pro is too slow to do all I'd like tonight.

Liberty Hall , the former Town Hall, community theatre space, basketball court, general gathering spot for centuries has been all redone outside. Grant money, donations and hard work will restore the inside, eventually. The old plaster has been removed and it's pretty funky inside. We have been to community bean suppers and Historical Society skits there years ago and we hope it gets restored, it was and is a grand hall.

For theRecord,
This day came in cloudy, but the sun came out, dried yesterday's 5 inches!! of rain and flooded the skies with bright light. A glorious summer day in Maine.
