Refuse collection in Manchester is comprehensive, with five bins to choose between when you allocate your unwanted stuff (missing here are the (small grey) compost bin and the (large green) garden clippings bin. It is a weekly service, with some bins collected fortnightly. [My Patagonian collection is daily, with recyclable stuff collected three times a week, but no bins - just bin bags].

We also have round the corner a book bin, a clothing bin and a shoe bin, which presumably go to a nearby sorting station. Domestic batteries are recycled at the local supermarket,

The collection guys leave the bins all over the place so most people label their bins with their house numbers, often - as in this case - quite colourfully. These particular bins belong to our neighbours at number twenty-eight, and serve nicely as today;s blip.
