Left hand, right hand

Area 3!

This is the view from the battlements into the eastern suite of rooms in the main range at Mingary Castle. This area has been LH's home for most of this week. It may be cold compared to outside (not neccessarily always a bad thing in this week's heat), a bit damp and very cramped, but it has revealed the most complex series of in situ archaeological stratigraphy in the castle.

The well pit can be seen in the bottom left hand corner of the picture, while this week LH has revealed some flagstones immediately to its west (right). Until last week these areas were closed off by an upstanding wall seemingly built in the 19th century (foundations visible just below the ladder).

Next up, the well itself.... but not quite yet.
