Sand sculptures of folklore

My godson's confirmation took place in the church of Elimäki on Sunday morning. After the confirmation ceremony we had a reception at a local restaurant cabinet. The reception was nice, informal and relaxed.

On our way home my parents and I visited the southeastern town of Lappeenranta, another town with an old fortress and some beautiful older buildings as well. We also visited the Lappeenranta Sandcastle, which features some very impressive sculptures made of sand. This year the theme for the sculptures is Kalevala, the finnish national epic. All the sculptures represent a scene from the folklore and poems of Kalevala. The blip image is a part of a sculpture. The weather was very sunny and around/above 25 C / 77 F during the whole weekend (thank goodness for air-conditioned cars).

See backblip for Saturday.
