Shelter

Steven added the next part of the tyre wall today, whilst I earthed up tatties and battled with weeds (I think I may have lost).

The great tyre experiment seems to be working. It is certainly calm and warm when you duck down behind them, event though it was pretty windy today. We are trying a small amount of a few different veggies (nothing too fragile, very much the basic carrots, onions etc) to see what will cope with the conditions, so far everything is up but taking it's time. Except for spinach and broad beans which are romping away.

Tyres maybe not the prettiest of building materials but they are free, plentiful, easy to build with, retain heat and are unlikley to blow down in the wind. And if you add a piece of slate, or whatever else you have to hand, they make a very comfy stool to enjoy a cuppa whilst you review your hard work.
