Spoor of the Bookworm

Queuing Area

Opposite the newer , brightly painted, iron mooring bollards upstream of Culham Lock are these decaying mooring poles. The modest, workaday Thames equivalent of the ornate gilded Venetian versions. Why do I find dereliction and neglect so visually fascinating?

Alas I forgot my camera so had to resort to my phone.

Poor old Jake, I took him for a very modest little saunter, a tiny step compared to our glory days, but we only made a third of the planned route before his legs gave out and I had to let him rest and then make our way back to the car. He's visibly happier though, he's been going stir crazy the last couple of days....me too.
