Watching the ferry arrive after a very rewarding circuit of Arran with bubblebeach.

After waking up at 7am to a heavy downpour, which was still pounding as we cycled up the hill out of Brodick nearly four hours later, we expected a very soggy ride, but very soon the rain stopped, the sun came out and by the time we reached Lochranza the sky was blue and the clear water in the bay looked very inviting indeed.

Meanwhile, unknown to me at the time, across the Firth, the distinctive chimney of Inverkip power station was blown into oblivion.
