Today is a new day...

Berneray

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better!

Ferry to Berneray this morning, the first island that we have visited this year which is new to all three of us. The journey was calm and scenic and we immediately felt at home on this island. The machair is beautiful just now, full of brightly coloured wild flowers and the West Beach where we walked and walked has definitely moved into my top 3 beaches ever! The sand was soft and light coloured and the water turquoise. We were so lucky to see it on a beautiful day, I'm sure it could be wild in the winter but probably also beautiful.

After visiting the local tearoom for lunch (with wifi) we headed to North Uist via the causeway and then to Benbecula, via a number of causeways where we are staying tonight. Semi-quaver is hoping to see an otter here in one of the many lochs or beside one of the causeways. There are 'otter crossing' signs here!

Went for a cycle round part of the island and now heading down to the beach for the next round of the beach tennis (I'm in the lead now!).
