Riverside walk

The boys and I had a fantastic hike along the River Severn. We caught the bus to Llandrinio and walked along the Severn Way, joining Offa's Dyke Path, back home to Welshpool.
It was interesting to walk across the floodplains of the Severn as it lazily meanders it's way towards Shrewsbury and it was hard to imagine the fields ever being submerged on this baking hot day.
The path follows an embankment so the boys were safely away from the river's edge and ensuring the going was very easy.
The wildlife was interesting with lots of wildflowers to see. Son #2 spotted lots of newly emerged frogs scrambling across our path.
Butterflies were everywhere, particularly feeding on thistles. I don't think I've ever seen so many Small Tortoiseshells in one day! Beautiful.
