Maldives Diaries-Alternative Merry Christmas

Maldives Diaries- Merry Christmas:

I’d be lying if I didn’t say this has been a dreamy Christmas Day. We all had a slow start to the day after the Christmas Eve party last night. Honour roll mention goes to Mumma bear, who somehow managed to dance most of the night in wedges! I don’t know how she does it, the rest of us were barefoot about 3 minutes after we arrived on the beach.

None of us had any expectations for this holiday to be traditionally ‘Christmassy’. We knew at the point of booking that Islam is the prominent religion in the Maldives and we were prepared to swap our normal Christmas for sun and sea this time round. However, the staff have gone the extra mile to add little touches of Christmas, which has been really sweet and has made us feel like we’ve had the best of both worlds.

Most of our day has been spent snorkelling and sunbathing. Joyce and I had fun this morning testing out her fins and we came across several coral reefs, some of them are huge and home to some beautiful fish. Mumma bear has been enjoying reading her book then having a quick snorkel to cool off. I’m looking forward to exploring more of the island tomorrow.
Hope everyone has had a great Christmas.
