Griffon Vultures

We tore ourselves away with much regret from our haven for this last week and headed for Portugal for lunch and then the plane to Scotland. easy journey luckily. As we were getting near to Rio Tinto ( the remains of a massive and very old mine which produced copper, gold and silver and is now closed waiting for the Spanish government to give the go ahead to open again) we spotted these two circling Griffon Vultures, they were enormous, their wingspan is over 2.5 meters.. I think they were just hanging on a thermal rather than waiting for lunch but who knows!
