I hadn't seen any birds at my feeder other than the ubiquitous houses finches for quite some time, so I was delighted to see this little nuthatch come to eat, and then drink, this morning.
The rusty colored feathers around the legs and bottom of this bird always make me smile. What a funny design! Since these birds are always hanging upside down on the side of trees, maybe this helps camouflage them from predators above.
