American Goldfinch

I figured out why, as soon as I installed the rain guard, the birds stopped coming around: I had suspended it on the part of the feeder that slams down over all the access points when heavy things like squirrels hang from it to eat the seeds; the rain guard is heavy, too - compared to the 1/2-ounce-each weight of a finch. After fixing the problem, the birds came right back. So cool to have a flurry of finches, juncos, sparrows, bushtits . . .
