l'Île de Bréhat

Hot and sunny today. The thermometer on the terrasse here said 43 degrees at 2pm. Phew!

Alice and I thought we'd go early to l'Ìle de Bréhat, in the hope that we would escape the crowds and the worst of the heat by returning at lunchtime.
We got to l'Arcouest at 9.20, where there was a big queue to get in the car park. It seems everyone else may have set out to get there early too. Hundreds and hundreds of cars. We bought tickets for a tour de l'île, which meant we had an hour's boat ride all around the island before landing there just before 11.

We walked ashore and tried to hire bikes. Alice isn't confident riding a bike alone yet, and whilst the bike hire firms had a tandem or trailer bikes - we couldn't have one. I was told the tandem was only for 2 adults, and the trailer bike was fitted behind a large man's bike and no they couldn't fit it to a smaller bike for me! So we walked as far as le bourg and had a look around, then down to a beach, before heading back to le port.

Alice was keen to get back home to play with Nicolas. She also said "I want to talk French with Nicolas" ! Maybe we're going to find there's just too much spoken English when we leave here. We arrived back home just before 2 where we had a quick lunch before Nicolas and Théo turned up and invited Alice to go and play with them in Nico's piscine.

The photo is of le phare du Paon on the north coast of l'île de Bréhat. I'll add more photos to my blog.
