Hay Market in Saint Petersburg

Back in Saint Petersburg, it's raining again.... Today I was with the kids on the Hay Market not far from the Sennaya Square, literally Hay Square. "The square was a venue for the cholera riots of 1831. The surrounding district was known for its infamous slums, which provide the setting for Dostoevsky's novel Crime and Punishment." (Wikipedia)

It was crowded there and lots and lots of fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, sweets, pastries.... After one month in Crimea and going to the market almost everyday for fruits and vegetables I guess, I will have to go there now more often now in Saint Petersburg.... not only for food, but also for the atmosphere. In Crimea there were lots of Tatars, here we have people from the former Soviet republics, like Uzbekistan, Tajikistan etc.
It's strange to be back in the big big city. Time after time I have the feeling, there is no air to breath here.... and soooo many people.... but anyway it's good to be home again.
