HMS RALEIGH

The family are so proud of Adam (my grandson) who has joined the Royal Navy and we attended the Passing Out Parade at Tor Point near Plymouth. He is third from the right on the front row. His Mother, Father, Brother and I travelled down to be present on his big day. We were shown a film of the ten week intensive course, we met the instructors, had lunch and applauded each recruit as they received their RN epaulets. Later the band of the Royal Marines played all the Sea Shanties as they paraded past the Royal Ensign and the Officer taking the salute. They stood for ninety minutes in the scorching sunshine in full uniform. Official photographs were taken and after a drink with the lads we said goodbye to these fine young men and girls who are a credit to their families and to their country.
