Jock o' Scudargue

I was so used to looking out my door and seeing the Bennachie mountain range from my last place that it has taken me some weeks to really notice this rather wonderful view of my neighbour's property. Not that they live in the castle you understand. For a start it has been uninhabited since around 1879 and secondly it is typical of hundreds of similar structures in Scotland in that it has been largely left to its own devices. Roofless and in a somewhat dilapidated condition it really could do with some public funding to stabilise what remains and ensure its survival well into the next century.
The Castle of Pitlurg probably dates from the late 16th century and was a Gordon residence. The Pitlurg Gordons seemingly descended from Jock o' Scudargue who died in around 1418.
Jock has seemingly been identified as U.S. President Obama's 14th Great Grandfather, HRH Prince Charles's 18th Great Uncle, Winston Churchill's 17th Great Uncle, Lady Diana's 16th Great Grandfather and rather surprisingly David Cameron's 15th Great Grandfather.
Mind you if you believed everything you read on the net you would probably believe that the elections in Zimbabwe were fair and honest.
