"No Birds"...

...Today - just a Big Nest...

...Instead of the Birds - well, I thought I'd blip just where one variety of the Kite family spend a bit of time throughout their lives each year observing the countryside - and each other - and this is one of their huge Nests dotted along the riverbank not far from where we live...

...We've seen a few different species of the Kites frequenting this area along the river and it's possibly the nest of a Square-Tailed Kite..

...A medium- sized Hawk, approximately 22" in size, usually observed soaring on upswept wings among or above the treetops..

...The tree this Nest sits in, is a River Red Gum - and would be over 120 ft. tall..a long way up..but no problems for them..they would use the same nest over and over again each year...sort of like a holiday house up by the river isn't it..although there's a lot that goes on in that nest during that time, bringing up babies, tossing them out of the nest and then getting on with their lives again..

...Aren't birds incredible..
