The Charles Darwin Sculpture Garden.

The bronze sculpture of Charles Darwin by Anthony Smith, Christ's College, Cambridge, 2002-5, is the centrepiece of the Darwin Garden. Here, Darwin is shown as a 22 year old student, attending Christ's College in 1827-31. He went as a naturalist with Captain Robert FitzRoy, aboard the 'BEAGLE', on a round the world voyage of discovery1831-36. This garden represents a botanical voyage reflecting the variety of flora he would have seen, constrained by the British climate. Although I had blipped the sculpture some time ago, I hadn't shown the garden. It has been a mixture of the weather today. Nice this morning, then cloudy, a sprinkle of rain, sunshine and this evening quite a heavy shower. It is very humid and I have all the windows open. Once again Cambridge misses the worst of the weather !
