Weathercock

Had a friend who is a master decorator round to help me with a couple of jobs, and he proudly showed me his latest project, the weathercock from the 12th century village church. He'd removed it and repaired it, added eyes and a comb that weren't there before, and gilded it with gold leaf. It's typical of his attention to detail; even though it will be on the top of the church tower and generally only seen from the ground, he made sure that everything was done perfectly.
