The Kiltwalk

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

I was in our new office in Glasgow yesterday and smart it is too, well when you get inside that is as the rest of the floor is still being developed and will start to get occupied between now and the end of the year. Which means we'll have neighbours to share the facilities with, so we need to stamp our authority over everything before they arrive :-)

The place was a hive of activity as the team ran through check lists for our three upcoming Kiltwalks in September, so as usual, it's all go.

I was in the office to take part in an end of day meeting to discuss next years Burns Supper and Award Night and by the time an hour had passed we'd had a good kick at the cat as they say. I did smile to myself every time Carey said "we've got ages yet", however he knows more than most that before you can say "Tam 'o Shanter", we'll be putting Oor Kilts on and getting ready for the night.

The action list is impressive with numbers to be agreed, entertainment to be sought, Burns speakers and pipers to be found, tables to be sold and people to be coerced into helping The Kiltwalk, for the right price of course. So lot's to do but at least the date and venue are booked :-)

We're also in "Team Presentation and Glasgow 2014 launch mode" which is all happening on 16th August at the Grand Central Hotel.

It's shaping up to be a great evening where we will award all the teams that took part back in April, with their 50% Kiltwalk Grant cheques and when I tell you there's over thirty of them, that's a lot of clapping, never mind money.

It's also the night we'll announce not only the date for next years Glasgow event, but who our Charity Partners are going to be. That's a decision the Trustees and Carey are racking our brains over as we read the various proposals you see above.

Luckily, we put together a selection criteria in advance, which has helped enormously as each proposal is as deserving as the next. Suffice to we're looking forward to announcing our Partners and working with them next year.

Wait a minute, next year . . . is it not still Summer 2013?
