Simplicity

It's simple being a nobody
cos I can hide right behind you,
watch you take the punches
and the limelight you are due.

I wear my obscurity easily;
gentle it sits on my shoulders so bare,
my naked intention
hiding me from your stare.

Life like a star
that shoots bright and true
is an anathema to me,
a devilish pew.

Rather my lot,
the way is to be,
steadfast and sure
that you won't see me.

In a world so intent
on you making your mark,
why do we see
if not light then it's dark?
