Between fen and mountains

Blipper blipped

Bundle is with us for her holidays so we went on a mini blip hunt and she obligingly provided me my subject matter. The village is full of tourists following the Canigou race and it will remain busy for the rest of the month. Incidentally, the international race was won by a local runner in 3 hours 11 minutes. This is a 34km run with over 2000 metres of ascent from the village. The return via a different route is technically difficult in parts. I am always staggered at the times. The record is under three hours. There is also an ice carrier descent. The participants bring 8 kilos of ice down from the summit to commemorate the daily journeys of villagers who used to fetch ice for the drinks of the rich people frequenting the spa. This was at the beginning of the 20th century when the spa was in its heyday
