In yer face

Went out today to photograph some damselflies or dragonflies. Saw a couple of dragonflies but I think it's getting a bit late for damselflies. There were lots of little hoverflies about and I settled on one of them instead.

Not the prettiest of insects, the humble hoverfly is a brilliant mimic, pretending it's a dangerous wasp or hornet. Seems like an almost human trait.
