Sunset from the "Coq d'Argent"

My camera club went for a "walk and shoot" around the City of London this evening. This shot was taken looking west from the roof terrace of No.1 Poultry. It's a controversial post-modernist building by James Sterling built on the site of a much-loved listed neo-Gothic Victorian building after a huge planning argument.

The roof terrace has a swanky wine bar and restaurant (the Coq d'Argent), but it is open to the public if you have the confidence to stride in there. My camera club, laden with cameras. lenses, tripods and rucksacks, looked a motley crew among the city slickers!

This view is looking down Cheapside. you can just glimpse the dome of St Paul's Cathedral on the left and the steeple is St Mary-Le-Bow, also by Wren. Directly under the setting sun is the Old Bailey with the statue of Justice with her scales on the dome (you can see her if you zoom in). And between the spire and the Old Bailey you can see Telecom Tower in the far distance. We were lucky it was such a beautiful evening.
