Thistle Blossom

The thistles are even more beautiful now.

I learnt today that the first connection with the outside world for Terry Waite after four and a half years in solitary confinement was when he was given a radio and he tuned into the World Service broadcasting The Last Night of the Proms. Elgar's Dream of Gerontius was playing. Can one ever hope to imagine what he was feeling at that moment? The wonder of the human spirit is awe inspiring. Terry Waite still had to endure a further six months of solitary confinement.
