Gilbert White's House, Selbourne

Gilbert White was an old-school country parson. As well as being active in his rural community he found time to be a vigorous gardener and keen observer of nature. His Natural History of Selbourne is the fourth most published book in the English Language. The family home in Hampshire is still set in the most peaceful garden and grounds.

Due to a conincidence of history the house also shares a link with the Oates' family. So togther with a celebration of the diversity of Creation there is also a commemoration of the courage of Capt. Oates on Robet Scott's fateful expediition to the South Pole.
