A delicious meal at Antonio's last night - far too much eaten and enjoyed- a very garlicky bruscetta to start with followed by an enormous pizza with rocket, parmesan curls and baby tomatoes, followed by pistachio ice cream all enjoyed with copious amounts of prosecco.

I headed into Schull to the hairdressers's today and have emerged reasonably content and unscathed. Schull is heaving at the moment. It's Calves Week ( the local version of Cowes Week), sponsored by Cork Gin and the place is full of very loud, very wealthy yachties down from Dublin- and I've bagged a fine example of the species taking a leisurely pint outside the very fine Hackett's Bar. He has the classic signs of a well heeled yachty - boat shoes, pink legs, shorts, small cigar and is speaking very loudly into his mobile. He's also spotted me and is not looking terribly impressed. This might fit in with Earthdreamer's Phoneworld challenge too.

Hackett's is a great pub - tiny inside with two small rooms but bursting with character, and characters. It's a great place for apint, and it also serves excellent food - the roundels on the wall are awards from the Bridgestone Guide to good eateries. An interesting variety of posters  in the windows from a session with John Spillane (excellent singer song/writer) to ferry timetable to Cape Clear to adverts for polytunnels. The strange face and lizard adorning the walls are made by a local sculptor. By tonight this place will be packed.
Worth biggifying.
Off for a swim, catch you later.
