Sabhal Mor Ostaig Luis - Rowan and the letter L

Went to Skye to pick my daughter up from her Gaelic Course. Had a wander round the new campus. The Gaelic Tree Alphabet contains 18 letters each of which was traditionally linked with a tree name. The trees were used to help children learn the letters of the Gaelic Alphabet. L-, Luis or the Rowan has great significance in scottish folklore and History. I chose this particular tree as it sits in front of Sabhal Mor Ostaig , the Gaelic College on Skye. The location and the college has had a significant impact on my life and country, it opened the door to the discovery of my own culture and identity .
