Waddesdon Manor …

Today we made our way home from Shropshire stopping off at Waddesdon Manor which although owned by the National Trust is managed by the Rothschild Foundation. We have not visited before and were underwhelmed by the cafes compared to the NT offerings! A very elaborate house built in 1880 which has some features of a French chateaux. We did not go in the house as you have to book ahead. A few tulips there but not that many. A 20 min walk from the car park, there is a shuttle bus but it costs £2.50 per person!
The extra is of the Stables Courtyard….very disappointed that the cafe there was not open only a dining room serving meals.

I prefer the NT houses near us eg Polesden Lacey, Ham House and Hatchlands! Plus Attingham  Park where we went yesterday.

A long drive…over 4.5 hours in total…lots of traffic on M25 so diverted via Heathrow. Now feeling very tired.
