Wasp sting: appetite still strong

Greyhounds are a hardy breed. Our Flinty has proven it.

It has been a tough day. After having bravely endured the fear of having his nails clipped this morning, he managed to get one of his front legs stung by a wasp early afternoon. He was left struggling to place the leg on the ground and retired upstairs to our his bedroom, his safe place.

What to do?

After quick reference to our Bruce Fogle 'Dog' book, we administered some first aid. This took the form of white wine vinegar to counteract the sting while Janice massaged him to ease away anxious panting.

We were worried because he was whistling a high pitch distress whine through his nose. This is a sound normally associated with the distress of not being fed on time or treading on a pebble.

After a couple of hours bed rest, here he is able to navigate the stairs using his bad leg as if there never was a problem. An early supper in the offing seems to have supported a remarkably effective recovery.

Did I mention that he was a very brave and tough boy?

Please note, no Greyhounds were permanently hurt in the production of this blip.
