Lichen

Lichen is a hybrid colony of algae and fungi in a symbiotic relationship ie they need each other. This one is the common greenshield lichen growing on the teak outdoor furniture. We wouldn't dream of removing it. I like how the macro view reveals tubelike structures that look like coral.
