I hurt myself today
   to see if I still feel

Hurt is a song made famous by Johnny Cash in his dying days. It’s so associated with him, although he didn’t write it, that it would seem brazenly ridiculous to attempt your own version of it.  But I did.  I used to play it live with my musical pals, and I imagine that it sounded like the cat’s choir but I cared not a jot. I got so inside the song that it was a cathartic thing to do. It wasn’t a case of singing it, It was more a case of channelling it. I think that’s what Johnny Cash was doing too, and he did it far better. So here is his version.
