Legend
A rather damp start to the day. I’m sure some are relieved to have rain. The railway in particular have had to run diesel trains rather than steam as the embers had caused fires on the route to Grosmont.
This is a recent addition to the bridge over Pickering Beck. It originally was located at Eastgate Fisheries which has now been demolished. The legend is supposed to be how Pickering got its name. However ing is an Anglo Saxon suffix. Usually meaning people or family of a chieftain. Certainly the legend is more interesting.
