On Some Days

School . . . Supertramp

Wide Wednesday . . . Patterns

This morning we dropped Jennie at the airport for her flight to Rotorua and on the way home called into Garin College.  I pass this college everytime I drive to the pool or into Nelson.  It has this colorful shelter with Maori patterns on it to capture the bi-cultural heritage of the school.  It is an open sided structure for the children to gather under before school or between classes.  It is school holidays so no students today.  The front is like a traditional whare (Maori House).  The sun was behind it and I should go back one afternoon and get the carved patterns on the front.  This is a corner with the traditional New Zealand fern cut into it. I am very fond of the curved Koru pattern depicting the fern.  It is seen in a lot of Maori Art.
Thanks Bob for keeping it wide on Wednesdays.
