Dornier 17, RAF Cosford

It was my first trip for about 10 years to RAF Cosford Museum, although Mr J and the children have been a few times. I particularly wanted to see the salvaged Dornier Do 17, which has spent 73 years under the English Channel, in Goodwin Sands. It's housed in 2 poly tunnels and constantly sprayed with water, citric acid and environmentally friendly chemicals, which will strip the salt from it's aluminium frame. This process will take a couple of years, so hopefully we'll go back again to see it's progress.
It's the only surviving German bomber from the Battle of Britain, and eventually will be exhibited at the London site, telling the story of the RAF during World War II.
Another view from Mr J.
