Life through the lens...

Cragside

Staying with friends in Northumberland, meant we could visit Cragside on the way. A place I have always wanted to see.

I certainly wasn't disappointed!

Built by Lord Armstrong in 1863, near Rothbury, and extended over the years.
It was the first house in the world to be lit by hydro electricity.
He also was a great landscape designer, and constructed 5 lakes, and planted over 7 million trees and shrubs.

Now owned by the National Trust.

A truly magnificent place.
We will be back!
