a lifetime burning

It's been drizzling off and on most of today, which is good for the garden as it has been a pretty dry April so far. The weather is not good for barn owls though, as they don't have waterproof feathers. The down side of this is that they will want to stay under shelter when it's wet, but the up side is that their feathers enable them to glide silently when seeking prey.

If you've been paying attention you will have realised that I didn't take this picture today - it was actually taken earlier in the week, but it seemed a shame for it to miss out on a wider audience.
