Flame of the Forest

This Pieris is certainly living up to its common name. The bright red new leaves are developing in abundance this year and being over three metres tall this shrub makes quite a statement at this time of year.
I made good progress with my throw made from baby blankets at our craft group in the morning and there was quite a variety of activities going on around the table. K had brought a very nifty machine for winding skeins of wool into neat balls, Wanderers13 and T filled pretty little baskets made from paper cups ready for the Easter at the Orchard event on Monday and J became very frustrated trying to stuff a flamingo!
Scottish country dancing in the afternoon was great fun but sadly the last one of the season. We will start again in September.
