and the rest in colour.
Good friends Mark and Annie have just built a house on an extraordinary piece of land between Saddleworth and Kapunda, on a ridge overlooking a sweeping view. The house is nestled back away from the ridge, as it is generally too windy close to the top. In the middle of the land is a rock formation that is truly gobsmackingly glorious. I have only scratched the surface of getting something that visually aligns with the actual presence of the place.
So please do check out the extras, including the last, which shows the view from the saddle between two parts of the ridge.
It was a windy day in our part of the world, a day that presages a seasonal change. Fierce winds with dust storms were followed by patches of driving rain. The last weeks and months have been quite hot and dry, and that has entrenched South Australia into drought conditions. You can see this in some of the images; that dun coloured horizon, and the piles of dropped eucalyptus bark and branches.
The whole scenario was played out in exaggerated form this afternoon while driving home. Just after leaving Kapunda, a dust storm hit us. It got so bad that it was like (slowly) driving through thick brown fog, in which we couldn't see more than a few metres in front of us. I had to turn my fog lights on. As the dust cleared, it then pelted down with rain. I would have loved to turn off and take photos of the dust, but it was just too dangerous.
We are all hoping that the current rainy patch might hang around for a bit.
