Two paintings by Eric Tucker

Lives Less Ordinary exhibition at Two Temple Place. A diverse selection of paintings, photographs, prints, ceramics … aiming to show the more joyful elements and vitality of a working class life, rather than focusing on deprivation.

Here are two paintings by Eric Tucker, self taught artist (who painted over 500 paintings, at home in the council house he lived most of his life). He was only recognised and exhibited after his death. His story is in the book ’A Secret Painter’ by his nephew. Neither painting is dated, they were among the 500 plus found by his family.

The top one is named ‘People & Factories’ and the other ‘Redhead & two bottles of beer’. Glad to catch this exhibition.
