Ampleforth Abbey

A Sunday afternoon drive to nearby Ampleforth Abbey.

First stop the cafe where we had afternoon tea for two and then a walk towards the village of Ampleforth to walk it off.

The Abbey itself is the dominant building on the right with the flag, to its right you can just see the visitor centre that houses the cafe and where you can buy Ampleforth Abbey cider and beer.

The building to the left of the abbey is the monastery itself.

Definitely worth a visit and there is even more to talk about when you also find out its a public boarding school (£30K per year) and walk around the grounds to marvel at all the sports facilities there is there.
