Grey Country Scene
A public holiday, so opted for a morning walk after breakfast as light rain is moving very slowly north. Very dull on the whole and very dark clouds to the south. Quite cold as well. A significant wind chill means I am not too warm wearing a big coat. The park is very quiet, a couple of dog walkers out. The larch tree are now very green, and the few flowered leek is beginning to yellow. Head home just as the rain starts. Despite the forecast, another couple of rain showers appear between morning coffee and lunch.
After lunch, local café is closing early, so a walk to the garden centre. Cloud hasn't relented and a wee light rain shower passes overhead as we set of. Despite the recent rain, the path isn't as muddy as we expected it to be. Blip shows one of the Mortonhall Highland Cattle with the Pentland Hills in the background. The hills loot quite misty as there is another light rain shower heading our way. By the time it arrives, we are having Friday afternoon coffee and cake. Extra shows a Mistle Thrush spotted as we leave the garden centre. It can be distinguished from the song thrush by the thorn like spots that coalesce on the sides of the breast and it is a bit larger than a blackbird.
