Happy Easter

It’s just the Ards Man and me for dinner, but one must maintain certain celebratory standards! I love Easter, such a special, amazing day.

My father-in-law used to make a big effort for Easter, an even more sparkly celebration than Christmas, usually with a turkey he’d bought and frozen at the end of December. I used to buy the girls a new dress each, casting back to my own childhood when we’d be bought new white knee-length socks! Luxury. :-)

Nowadays the girls are with their own families over the duckpond, but I hope they’re having a sociable dinner with the friends and in-laws! This year I’m having a go at fondant potatoes, after spotting a fairly straightforward recipe in this week’s Spectator magazine. I hope they taste nice so I can add this to my repertoire.

I have to confess that I’ve started my Lindt chocolate bunny already. And sneaked a glass of wine (cook’s prerogative). Oops!
