Time to head home

More ominous in large.

It was mostly a lovely sunny day today. In the morning, S went down to the neglected garden and returned with our first broad beans of the season, and then went for a run.  Meanwhile I made a pot roast with the chicken I bought yesterday, with leeks, celery, turnips, carrots, shallots, and a handful of the largest broad beans, added for the last 15 minutes. It was delicious -- it's ages since we've had roast chicken. Followed by yet more gariguette strawberries with Greek yogurt.

After lunch I went for a walk a little way up the mountain, to make a change from the usual, while listening to an excellent Backlisted podcast about Hannah Arendt. It was lovely and warm, but the view towards the Pyrenees was quite ominous, as you can see. I did make it home about 15 minutes before the rain (not that there was much of it). The Fitbit says I've done my duty, so I can relax now

On the good news front, after trying and failing to get in touch with Ryanair (mission impossible), S sent an email to Carcassonne airport. They replied very promptly to tell him his glasses were in lost property and could be picked up any time. Excellent! Now he's making a salad of new potatoes and tiny broad beans for our evening nibbles. Life is good!
