Sunrise Service at the Beach
The alarm sounded at 5:40 a.m. We were racing the sun to honor the Son.
Smooth sailing until we approached the entrance to the beach. We were 10 cars away when the police closed the parking lot. Uh oh. We pulled around to a church that was closed due to the hurricanes, and then parked and walked 2-3 blocks...in the dark.
There were hundreds of people set up in beach chairs, and the seagulls (not knowing it was Easter) were flying overhead...announcing the start to the day.
The PA system was just fair, the singer was good, the main speaker needed to speak up, and the gulls just wouldn't stop "talking."
But...it was great to be there It took me back to a time where we had a lot of family down for the holiday and we were close enough to walk over for the service. Good times. Great memories.
Just like the Son, the sun arose, the service commenced and the people dispersed. I was excited after the service to hear the sounds of a bagpipe on the beach, but as it turned out...how can I say this nicely...he was not good. I did give him credit for trying..but he made the seagulls sound good.
We later went to PDQ (chicken) for lunch, saw 20 alligators on the Myakka River, and then visited s-i-l Joy in the hospital again.
He is risen.
He is risen indeed.
P.S. In my Extras is the rising sun.
