Phone, Phone, Phone, Maidstone

The mouse situation is ongoing - we caught number 3 this morning. It was a particularly active little bugger as even though we were upstairs we could still hear it bashing against the confines of the trap that was placed in a kitchen cupboard with the door closed!
Today featured a quick trip to the Horseshoes for a drink sitting outside in the sunshine (very relaxing) and then on into Maidstone to try and capture an image. I took this photo just off the the main drag in Week Street and I really liked the combined elements of the old phone box that I used as a framing device contrasted with the human perspective of the two people with their mobile phones. The girl in the foreground seemed to have the phone as a totally normal extension of her arm while the person in the background had that all too familiar smartphone stoop.
I recently watched a news item where it intimated that the "smartphone stoop" refers to the physical posture, often characterised by a hunched or rounded back and neck strain, that can develop through prolonged smartphone use. Luckily, being Gen X rather than Gen Z I've never succumbed to the drug that is a smartphone. When I was a small kid we didn't even have a house phone for a few years - we had to go and use the  phone box a couple of streets away to make a call. Admittedly this was less than ideal - it was freezing cold in winter and boiling hot in summer. It now feels as if was more than century ago!
Just a quick mention of a brilliant programme on the BBC - Pilgrimage : The Road Through The Alps. I'm not particularly religious but this is just a beautiful life affirming series of programmes. It doesn't dumb down or preach but is a wonderful, thought provoking watch. I highly recommend it.
