From America to the wheat belt's of Wongan Hills W.A

THE McCORMACK DEERING
This tractor was imported from USA in 1927 and purchased by Mr Charles Ellis for his property,18 kilometres east of Wongan Hills. It was one of the first tractors in the district purchased to replace the horse teams then used.

The machine's 28 horse-power (19.6 kilowatt) capacity was used to pull a 10-disk, 6 feet wide (1.8 metres) plough, at speeds of up to 3.5 MPH (5.6 kph), covering approximately 22 acres (10 hectares) during a day's light-approximately 11 hours.

TODAY....The main tractor for many farmers can be 500 horse-power (350 kilowatts), capable of pulling a 60 feet (20 metre) implement at 6mph (9.6 kph), covering 700 acres (320 hectares) per day-using lights to work 24 hours.

After some years of faithful service, the tractor was sold to Mr John H. Taggart, who left it with the farm when he sold out to Ian and Ros Cousins. They kindly donated it to the local Tourism Group.

The tractor was restored by Boekeman Machinery in 2005
