Nursery For Baby Wasps

This is my hardwood garden bench, purchased when my children were little and we all three could fit on it, lovingly carted from house to house and now installed on our terrace.

Yesterday a peculiar sort of wasp (large and orange/brown coloured with big wings) laid egg pods in the recesses on the front brackets and sealed them in... on both sides! The nerve of it!

Now, do we allow the young to hatch out... or do we drill out the white stuff, which has set very hard, and kill them?
