Looking over Belle Isle
On a circuit from the Cuckoo Brow Inn, high up onto Claife Heights and back along the shore of Windermere. The view here is toward Bowness with Belle Isle in the middle of Windermere. . Belle Isle is the largest island on the lake but privately owned . It used to be called Lang Holme or Great Island until 1774 when the then owners, the Curwen family named it after Isabella Curwen. Such a shame you can't visit it , but the many yachties in the lake can sail close by and have a good look.
I was pleased to see lots of small trees have been planted following the devastation to the trees on this side of the lake from Storm Arwen ,
